Sunday School, 11:00 am

With The Bible, the Christian Science textbook, and kind and supportive teachers, this NYC church helps children to grow and learn. Join us! Our Sunday School is open to all children and young people, up to the age of 20. It takes place during the same hour as church, 11 am to noon. A children’s room is provided for little ones not yet ready for Sunday School.

In Sunday School, pupils learn about God and Christ Jesus. They are taught the Ten Commandments, the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord’s Prayer, and timeless stories that provide examples of how to navigate life. Pupils gain a sound knowledge of the Bible while exploring the weekly Bible Lessons that all Christian Scientists study and that are read in our churches. They learn how to apply the eternal truths of God’s love in their daily lives, now and always. We believe that spiritual strength is vital for children in facing today’s challenges in their schoolwork, activities, relationships, and community.

“Going to Sunday School has taught me many important life lessons that I will never forget.” — Tristan, 9th grade

A poem by 11th-grade student Elizabeth:

All to You

I’m going to make it through
‘Cause my heart’s been set on you.
When weight tries to hold me down
I’ll remember the faith that stays my ground.

Through the winds and waves
You’ve been my anchor at bay.
Then when the storm ascends
You will be the light that fills me up.

The one that mends my soul
Will be watching me ever close
And from when the sun rises to where it sets
You’re still holding me near.

Even though we’ve been through so much
There’s still no one like you here.
In the heavens and the earth
Your hand will guide me dear

From east to west
You’ll rule our hearts
Fulfilling the space
With your loving embrace.
